Windshield Washer Reservoir

All of us would want to have the windshields of our vehicles clean at all times. That’s why we would really take the time to clean the windshields of our vehicles, sometimes with a soap solution but most of the time with plain water. But tap water is not often efficient in cleaning the windshields of our vehicle. Instead, windshield washer fluids may do a better job. That’s why vehicles are equipped with windshield washer systems that make cleaning our windshields with wiper fluids a lot easier.

The windshield water system is a simple system that is made up of a windshield washer reservoir, a windshield washer pump, a nozzle and an electric motor. The windshield washer fluid, which is stored in the windshield washer reservoir, is squirted by the windshield washer pump into the outer side of the windshield. The action of the windshield washer pump, on the other hand, is being controlled by an electric motor that either runs alone or is integrated with the windshield wiper motor.

The main function of the windshield washer reservoir is to store the windshield washer fluid before it is squirted into the windshield. It is a tank of average size, often transparent or translucent in color, allowing us to clearly see the windshield washer fluid inside it, which is also often blue in color. Some windshield washer reservoir has a “full-level” line that signals the maximum amount of washer fluid that must be stored while other reservoirs allow you to fill it up completely.

For proper operation of the windshield washer system, the windshield washer reservoir must be filled at all times. The reservoir, however, often gets damaged or punctured, making them leak out the washer fluid stored in them. Should this happen to the windshield washer reservoir of your vehicle, you better replace it at once with new and high quality ones. Don’t confuse it, though, with the coolant reservoir. Although they look quite alike, they perform two entirely different functions.
