Do you detect any oil, fluid, water leaks on the ground after your Volkswagen is parked? Like death and taxes, leaks are inevitable. So don’t fret if you have oil leaks, it happens all the time. Minor leaks are normal, but when oil spots turn into puddles, trouble may be on the horizon. While most car owners doesn’t think about vital-fluid leaks, meticulous auto enthusiasts will take them seriously and do the necessary repairs right away. Failure to correct leaks can lead to overheating, prematurely worn parts, breakdowns and hazardous driving conditions.

So whenever signs of fluid leakage are present under your Volkswagen, it pays to investigate. But impeding an oil leak is really frustrating if you don’t find the correct source of the oil leak, right? Here it goes. First you need to determine what kind of leak your Volkswagen is experiencing because there are two kinds of oil spills: a seep and a leak. A seep is a slow seepage of oil that does not produce a drip, while a leak causes a drip of oil when the vehicle is parked.

Seep or leak – whatever it is, there is only one source of it. It is your valve covers. A slow leak from a valve cover will travel down along the manifolds, wires and vacuum lines and gets blown everywhere. It is extremely common to have oil leaks from a valve cover on just about every vehicle with over 30,000 miles. It is true that valve covers are the devices that cover the valve train, but they are a common source of engine oil seeps and leaks.

A symptom of a bent or leaking Volkswagen valve cover is a pinching of the valve cover gasket. This means that the gasket is sealing one area and not sealing another area. This condition produces a leak; oil could be leaking down the side of the engine. This thing can be prevented if you only have your regular checkup on your Volkswagen valve covers. Always keep an eye on your Volkswagen valve covers, if you have detected that it needs replacement, then have it replaced.
