Killer appeal and killer performance are the qualities bannered by the Volkswagen
Scirocco, an automobile from the Volkswagen brand of vehicles. It first came to
the consciousness of the automobile industry in March of 1974 equipped with two
large rectangular headlights and a 1.1 liter motor. In was introduced to the North
American market in 1975.
Accounting for the killer appeal and killer performance is the fact that the
Scirocco is a vehicle that never fails to integrate newer and more sophisticated
technology into itself. In 1976, both the fuel injection and the mono wiper on
the vehicle’s front windshield were introduced. In 1978, wrap around front turn
signals became one of its parts. Black plastic bumpers that replaced the previous
chrome and metal-surfaced bumpers also joined the wagon. The following model year,
the 5-speed transmission was brought in to bestow upon the vehicle absolute improvement.
The result is a true-blue performance car that exceeds all expectations.
One of the most special things about the Scirocco is the fact that it is aerodynamic
and can run at top speed even at 55 miles per hour. This is a feat that is effortlessly
achieved by the alternative Scirocco which was introduced in the 1982 model year.
Completely redesigned, the Scirocco 2 was a much improved version of the original
Scirocco as it traversed miles of unchartered territory known only to super coupes
at that time. Everyone was bowled over by the fact that such performance could
come from such a car.
In time, the Scirocco was replaced by the Volkswagen Corrado. Short-lived as
it was, it is still considered as one of the most important cars to impress the
motoring world. It is best remembered for bringing a different kind of character
to the coupe that has made all the difference in the class where it belongs.
