Volkswagen, which literally means "people's car", started in Germany as an idea
of Ferdinand Porsche in 1930s that is, a mass produced car that is affordable
for the common German masses. Three years later, Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor
of Germany and supported the development of the Volkswagen. The original idea
was that the people’s car could carry two adults and three children at the speed
of 62 miles per hour with at least 33 miles per gallon and had a set cost of 1000
Reich marks, a price not much more of a common motorcycle at that time.
The production of the Beetle prompted thousands after thousands of sales which,
in 1972, broke the all-time best selling record set by the Ford Model-T. The Beetle
became the most popular vehicle in the world in terms of sales. In the following
years, VW started to produce different types of vehicles that made history of
their own but no model has matched the success of the WV except perhaps with the
VW Golf.
The success of Volkswagen vehicles can be associated with the image of the Beetle
and other models such as Volkswagen Cabrio, Volkswagen Cabriolet, Volkswagen Corrado,
Volkswagen Dasher, Volkswagen Eurovan, Volkswagen Fox, Volkswagen, Golf Volkswagen
Gti, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Jetta Wagon, Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Passat
Wagon, Volkswagen Quantum, Volkswagen Rabbit, Volkswagen Scirocco, Volkswagen
Super Beetle, Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, Volkswagen Touareg, Volkswagen Transporter,
and Volkswagen Vanagon. Though every model is unique from one another, they are
made with very durable and very strong sheet metal that forms the body panel of
the VW. Thanks to the superior quality of the VW body panel, every VW model is
reliable and the guaranteed to last for years, even for a lifetime.
