Toyota Tundra
By its specifications, the Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck. But for the company who made the vehicle, they'd rather describe it as life-size, with life-size meaning that it can tower over the competition. When it was introduced, it was undoubtedly larger than most of its competitors like the Ford F150, the Dodge Ram and other full-size pickup trucks. And with a whole new line-up for the 2005 model year, the new fleet of Toyota Tundra vehicles is out to prove that they are not only gigantic in size but also in performance, capability, functionality and features.
The second attempt of Toyota to enter in the full-size pickup market, the Toyota Tundra was intended to be a better replacement to the Toyota T-100. Prototypes of the Toyota Tundra were first released in 1998 and 1999, originally named as the Toyota T-150. But because of Ford's insistence that the T-150 name be changed, basically due to the name's resemblance to the Ford F150, the pickup debuted for the 2000 model year as the Toyota Tundra.
The current line-up of the Toyota Tundra is a force to reckon with in the full-size pickup truck department, especially that they have introduced another body configuration in their original line-up of capable trucks. Aside from the Regular Cab and Access Cab designs, the Toyota Tundra is now also available in Double Access Cab configuration. The spacious interior of the Double Access Cab allows seating for five passengers, or six with the available front bench seat.
But the capability of the new Tundra does not simply end with a new model and a spacious interior, for under the hood you'll find capable engines that gives the truck all the power it needs. Each Toyota Tundra model is equipped with either a 4.0-liter V6 that outputs 245 horsepower or a more capable 4.7-liter V8 that outputs 282 hp of power. Couple this with the new 6-speed manual transmission unit or the optional 5-speed automatic transmission unit plus a full-size cargo bed and you're ready to haul up to 1835 lb of loads or tow up to 6800 lb of equipments.
The Toyota Tundra is indeed a capable pickup truck—life-size in mass, life-size in performance. And add to it the various optional Toyota Tundra parts and accessories available from the dealer and it will surely perform as if no other truck can beat it.
