Supposing that you’re running at a high speed
level, then all of a sudden your Toyota has gone out of control and the
breaks are no longer working. Situations like this would make you
wonder where the problem has rooted, and all you can do is make the
safest stop possible. But this can be avoided by making sure that every
performance parts are in perfect condition and can be fully relied on.
And of course by the help of instruments that let drivers monitor the
operation, particularly the level of speed.
The speed of a vehicle can be tracked by the use of two kinds of speed
sensors. These are electronic devices that send speed signals to every
component with which they can be of great function. The first one is
the speed sensor, a sensor that measures the rotational speed of the
wheel. This type of speed sensor is present only on vehicles that
feature anti-lock brakes. It transmits the data obtained to the ABS
management computer, measuring the acceleration, braking distances, lap
times and cornering forces to know whether the wheel is about to lock
up.
The other type of vehicle speed sensor is referred to as the engine
speed sensor. It’s engineered fro the purpose of recording the rate of
crankshaft spin. The data is being processed in the vehicles computer
at a separate program, the engine management system. This way engine
functions are modified and initiate diagnostic routines as according to
the speed signal. Toyota models that feature ABS speed sensors may no
longer need engine speed sensors, because engine management computer
can make use of the speed signal collected by the wheel speed through
the ABS management computer.
If a Toyota is equipped with these speed sensors, the driver would
apparently know if there is any abnormality with the acceleration and
with the engine as a whole, so to become prepared of any probable
trouble. He would also be able to know if he can still hit higher speed
level or there’s a need to slow down. Toyota speed sensor is then a
functional and safety-oriented feature rolled into one.
