Toyota Solara
The Solara was a coupe and convertible version of Toyotas greatest success story in its vehicle lineup. The Toyota Camry was the root of the Solara, which was a very sporty coupe/convertible version of the sedan. It went our for the Camry lineup for a while but in 1999 the Solara came back with a vengeance. It featured new sporty features that emitted a sexy and adventurous aura. Unlike before, the new Solara doesn’t have an ounce of similarity with the four-door sedan Camry.
The new Toyota Solara had a look of its own, with swooping lines, heavily-creased indents and unique aft and back. Overall, the Solara was all about fun, sportiness and allure. The Toyota Solara exuded the fun factor some think lacks from the Camry. Although different on the outside, the Solara still possesses the same qualities that everyone loves about the Camry.
Solara is essentially a 2-dr version of Toyota's Camry sedan and is redesigned for its second generation as an individual entity, for 2004, using the latest Camry platform but still distinct. Solara is available as a coupe and as a convertible with power top and heated glass rear window. The Solara Convertible has most of the best qualities of the coupe: the same gem-like paint and exterior finish; the same high-grade interior materials; switch-gear that, with few exceptions, is easy to find and pleasant to operate; and a back seat that, in spite of its coupe roots, is comfortable for two adults.
This convertible/coupe version of the Camry sports a 225-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6 that is silky smooth and surprisingly quiet. Its high-performance drive gives quite an expression but its comfortable drive and interior has obviously been given much thought. Toyota has successfully combined the sensibility of the Toyota Camry and the wild, care-free moments that the Toyota Solara offers to any driver.
