Customizing and accessorizing Toyota cars can be
very easy, especially with the variety of accessories available for
them and the number of articles in the net that can aid you in your
restyling job. But it’s a different scenario altogether if you own a
Toyota truck or SUV. Off-road vehicles like trucks and SUVs needs
accessories that are tough and rigid in order for them to outlast the
off-road conditions. Further, accessories that can provide both
stylishness and protection for the vehicle are much preferred for
trucks and SUVs.
One particular accessory that is designed specifically for off-road
trucks and SUVs are the fender flares. The fender flares are the raised
sections attached to the sides of a vehicle, or to its fenders, just
over the wheel well. These accessories are usually made from
non-corrosive materials like plastic, fiberglass, or urethane. Fender
flares come in a variety of styles and colors. Simply styled, body
colored fender flares are usually used to create a uniform look for the
vehicle. Others, however, would install fender flares of contrasting
styles and colors with the vehicle’s body to give it a distinctive
look.
Considered today as one of the favorite styling accessories for
off-road trucks and SUVs, fender flares were actually designed for
another purpose. The basic function of the fender flare is supposed to
be to protect the sides of the vehicle from mud and road debris. Today,
however, it is often installed in a vehicle to create a more aggressive
and sporty look. It is also often installed to give the vehicle’s body
a wider legal coverage, beneficial if you need to install larger wheels
and tires on your SUV or truck.
Toyota manufactures and sells a number of SUVs and trucks; among them
are the 4Runner, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Rav4, Sequoia, Sienna,
Tacoma, and Tundra. These trucks and SUVs are already stylish but they
may look even more aggressive with Toyota fender flares.
