Since the establishment of the Toyota Motor Corporation in September 1933 and
their creation of the first engine, Type A Engine a year after, Toyota has improved
so much for the next decades and created all types of sedans, quality trucks,
and performance vehicles that has made their own marks in the automotive history
in its hometown Japan as well in other part of the globe. They also have incorporated
several safety features into their vehicles such as ABS, EBD, TRC, and ESR ASR
to name a few to totally give every Toyota passengers the safety and security
while on the road. These passive safety devices are installed and develop to compatibly
match every Toyota cars they produce.
On the other hand there is one inherent part of the Toyota that also ensures
safety of the passengers: the bumpers. Whether you believe it or not, bumpers
are not simply part of the vehicle just to complete a full image on the rear and
on the front. Bumpers are designed to protect a vehicle from body damage in low
speed collisions.
Bumpers function as an energy absorber generated from crashes that could cause
significant damage to the vehicle. Bumpers then, protect the whole car. In the
seventies, the bumper should have a tolerance level of up to 5 mph to pass the
safety standards. The low speed collision’s potential damage that can bring to
the vehicle is either reduced or virtually undetectable.
Bumper also goes hand in hand with the hood or trunk of the car in case of high
speed or low speed collision. The crumple zone is developed to absorb great amount
of impact that reduces the pressure on the passengers.
