Subaru Baja
Is it a car? Is it a truck? Or is it a wagon? Many would wonder, upon first look
where to place the Subaru Baja in the classification. With a tailgate and a pickup
truck-like bed that of a truck, wagon look, and a car-like feature, the Subaru
Baja attempts to create another crossover. As the crossovers would refer to SUV
with passenger car-like handling and ride, the Subaru Baja combines pickup-truck
roughness with the responsive handling and ride comfort of a passenger car, as
Subaru claims.
The Subaru Baja was first introduced in 2002 to target young drivers and people
in the subs who prefer cargo vehicles with car-like porformance. The latest Subaru
Baja is a 4-door, 4-passenger compact pickup which comes in two trims: the Sport
and the Turbo. With a standard 2.5-liter, H4, 165-horsepower engine, the Sport
can attain 21-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. The standard 2.5-liter,
H4, 210-horsepower, turbo engine at the Turbo trim can reach 19-mpg in the city
and 25-mpg on the highway. Both trims have a standard 5-speed manual transmission
with overdrive and an optional 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The Sport comes with short bed, ABS, air conditioning, alarm, CD player, power
windows/locks, and roof rack while the Turbo comes with regular cab, short bed,
ABS, air conditioning, alarm, CD changer, CD player, power windows/locks, sunroof/moonroof.
Both trims are fast, responsive, easy to handle, and versatile making it one
of the best choices in its class.
