Being the heart of the vehicle’s electrical system, the battery has multiple tasks to perform in order for the vehicle to start functioning and continue its operation. It will start its function when the engine starting unit of the vehicle is about to begin the warming the vehicle.
The battery has to send electrical power to the unit so the vehicle would continue moving. Then, it must send the same power to various electrical and electronic accessories found equipped in the vehicle. While the vehicle is under operation, the battery must continue supplying the proper amount of electrical power to each of these components. If the battery does not have enough supply of current, this will result to a malfunctioning condition of the components of the vehicle.
In order for the battery to keep current, it must be recharged so that when it’s about to lose the stock it will still continue operating. For this, the battery will need assistance on yet another important engine component for its recharging activity: the alternator. The alternator is the component in charge of producing alternating current in which the process will involve conversion of the mechanical energy into electrical.
Unlike with the older generators found equipped in the older vehicle models, the alternator of your Subaru can produce a constant stream of voltage even when the vehicle is not running but the engine is turned on. In this way, the continuous generating of the electrical power will provide the battery the needed supply.
The alternators of modern vehicles are the replacement of those older generators. They are one of the three main elements of the charging system, together with the regulator and the battery. Your Subaru alternator is the composition of four main parts which are: rotor, stator, voltage regulator, and the rectifier bridge.
The alternator of your Subaru vehicle is undoubtedly more efficient than the old generators. But even so, this is not a guarantee that when it incurs damage its function may still be faultless. Just like any component, it may render its role useless when it becomes damaged. In this case, it is extremely important that it is in constant excellent condition for a continuous faultless operation.
