With the continuous advancement in technology, man came to invent something that would carry or transport him from one place to another in a more convenient, faster and easier way called an automobile in the late 18th century. The invention of which resulted into the emergence of a great number of different automobile brands, manufacturers, groups and companies. Through the years however, lots of car brands came to extinction as separate companies, some were totally died out and some were owned by larger companies such as the Scion automobile brand.
The Scion is a year 2003-founded United States-only division of Toyota Motor Corporation and a brand of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. As a relatively young brand, paving its way to the top or simply finding a nice place in the automotive world will surely not be that easy. Following and using the sales tools such as pure price, innovative internet advertisements and monospec trim levels with a wide selection of aftermarket accessories, Scion was able to promote and successfully delivered to the public market its own very own models to which are the Scion tC, xB and xA. The xA, together with the xB are both rebadged Japanese market cars named Ist and bB respectively, and the tC on the other hand is a new design based on the European-market Toyota Avenis.
The Scion xA is the American-market name given to the subcompact car based on the running gear of the Toyota Echo, the Toyota Ist. The xA is a hatchback though of shoulder length with a stiffer suspension, rear stabilizer bar, bigger brakes, more aggressive wheels and slightly more aggressive final-drive ratios as compared to the Toyota Echo. Moreover, the Scion xA is heavier by 275 pounds and comes better equipped than the Echo. With the Echo’s final rolling off the factory by 2005, the xA serves as an efficient replacement though it turned out to be the slowest-selling Scion as compared to Scion xB.
