After the downsizing of engines and vehicle that was prompted by people’s awareness
that the oil supply of the world is finite, Japanese manufacturers like Toyota,
Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi began to dominate the small and compact car markets
in the United States. With this, the General Motors reacted by creating another
division that will concentrate on small and compact car class: the Saturn. Named
after the rocket that carried Americans to the moon during the space race with
the USSR, the Saturn cars have its new mission by competing with the Japanese
cars.
The first Saturn vehicles carried a the Z-body platform with the 1.9 L Saturn
I4 engine and was made from thermoplastic panels except for the hood and the steel
roof, that is mode durable than the conventional alloy.
Parts came from the other models made by the General motors. But its unique lighting
system is new for the Saturn. Part of these lighting system is the corner lights.
These lights are attached to both ends of the vehicle at front and in the rear.
These corner lighs are very functional especially during the vehicle is either
changing lanes or making a full turn. These corner lights are formed mainly for
safety. As a warning device, these corner lights are very useful so as to protect
the vehicles surrounding it from a sure accident.
All Saturn vehicles from SC (1995), SL (1995), SW (1995), L (2000), LW (2000),
SC (2000), SL (2000), SW (2000), Vue (2001), Ion Quad coupe (2003), Ion sedan
