Rocker Panel
Rocker Panel
Rocker panel is a component of the car's body panel found under the
compartment of the passenger. It is one of the cheapest car parts in
the market that is why many bus and truck drivers usually have a stock
rocker panels for replacement in case their factory rocker panel become
damaged or defective. Replacement of old and faulty rocker panels will
not take much time so be sure to check and inspect your car's body
panels to avoid negative effects on the look and driving dynamics of
the vehicle.
Installation of new rocker panels may require welding although it may also depend on the type of body panel features of the car. It is advisable to ask the aid of an experienced welder to get good results. After welding, cut the old rocker panel. It may sound simple but it must be done with care and full attention. A grinder with a cutting disc is preferable to cut the sloped area of the old rocker panel. Be careful not to cut into the outrigger since it is needed for the attachment of the new one. The surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned to attain successful welding. Remove the remaining rocker that sticks on the surface to have a flat base for the new rocker panel. Cutting of the upper portion of the rocker would also depend on the shape of the replacement rocker panel. Panels with U shaped rubber seal channel needs a part of the old panel to remain in place so in that case, cutting could vary. However if it does not fit the old panel, the owner has no other choice but to remove the channel for the seal unless he wants to spend for a new one. Protection of the rocker panel is also needed against chipping, rut and dirt. That purpose can be given by adding rocker panel guards. It is needed especially if the car is used for off-road driving especially on rocky areas. It is offered in various sizes to match the distinct configuration of the car.
