Porsche 944
Porsche has been known for producing the best and top-of-the notch sports car
that have ever conquered the world of automobiles. A resounding name that it has
and a reputation to boast of, Pontiac cars have proved much of their worth. Porsche 944 ranks as another ace of the company.
Introduced in 1982 as a replacement for the Porsche 924 as an entry level model,
Porsche 944 was another high performance sports car that revved the streets and
created waves in the automobile industry. The production of such sports car finally
rested in 1991 when Porsche 968 came in. Throughout the entire reign of the Porsche
944, it hit great success and made a tremendous break in sales as various forms
of it evolved such as the 944, 944S, 944 Turbo, and the 944S2.
Upon its introduction, Porsche 944 came with the 2.5 liter straight-4 engine
as inspired by the Porsche 928’s V8 engine. This engine had been integrated with
the patented balance shaft technology in order to minimize the vibration as developed
by Mitsubishi. By 1985, Porsche 944 experienced the first notable changes like
the improved interior ergonomics and air conditioning system, the vertically positioned
radio antenna as embedded in the windshields, an upgraded alternator, change in
the oil sump capacity, newly-installed front and rear cast aluminum control and
semi-trailing arms, larger than ever fuel tank, heated and powered seats, revised
starter, and the reduced noise and vibration due to the revised transaxle. The
944 Turbo also came in 1985 which was often referred to as the 951 due to its
being the most high-performance variant. The 994 Turbo S came in 1988 and the
994 S2 in 1991.
Of course, each of these versions featured the best that can be offered by this
vehicle line. The evolution of a lot of Porsche 944 versions had intimidated the
rest of the carmakers out in the industry which thus inspired Porche to create
more cars that will bring wonders to the world.
