Porsche 911
Porsche 911 has often been a resounding name. Indeed, it is a distinctive sports car manufactured
by Porsche AG based in Stuttgart, Germany. Eversince its introduction, Porsche
911 has been tagged with several other internal names such as Type 901, Type 911,
Type 930, Type 964, Type 993, Type 996, and Type 997. Modified for the purpose
of racing and rallying, Porsche 911 has clearly proven to the whole world its
versatility both on and off the track. Thus gaining much patrons and admirers.
As a replacement for the Porsche 356, Porsche 911 had been created to be more
powerful, larger, and more comfortable to suit every driver and passenger’s needs.
Its internal project name was Porsche 901 but in time for its production, it was
renamed Porsche 911 and went on sale in 1964. In 1966, its engine power of 130
PS was raised to 160 PS. A year after though, the Targa version had been introduced.
Its name basically originated from the Targa Florio road race held in Sicily in
which Porsche had notable success in the years 1956, 1959, 1960, 1963, 1964, 1966,
1967, 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1973. Removable roof panel, removable plastic rear
window, and a stainless steel roll bar are among its notable features.
Truly enough, the modifications adopted to the Porsche 911 has contributed to
much of its success. The silhouette of the 911 continuously has been passed onto
other upgraded versions yet focused more on enhancing the legendary heritage shared
by all Porsches.
