Pontiac Sunbird
In the heavenly Garden of Paradise, just beside the Tree of knowledge arise the first rose. Upon the lush red petals sprung a bird with flight as fast as the flash of lighting, plumage flaming in red and a song ravishing and enchanting. However when Eve picked the forbidden fruit, a blazing flame burned the rose bush and from the ashes appeared a red egg. Once again another bird mightily came out and spread its wings to fly. It is said that the next generation lived in Arabia near a cool well where the sun god is supposed to dwell. Before riding his chariot, the sun god would listen to the ravishing song of the bird thus it was later on known as the sunbird.
Possessing the same enticing sound, captivating looks and superb performance is the Pontiac Sunbird. It sprung in the world of cars in 1984 as a compact car. It is exquisitely crafted from the J-Body platform from General Motors also possessed by its predecessors and contemporaries. Pontiac Sunbird possesses various types of engine with a sound as soothing as a sunbird's song. Coupled with the absence of unwanted engine sound is the smooth road performance and handling.
1993 was the last year of production for Pontiac Sunbird. It was later on replaced by Pontiac Sunfire which also possesses the same fiery performance and style. Three powerful trims were offered for the last generation of Pontiac sunbird, the two-door convertible GT, two-door coupe LE and four-door sedan SE. All trims use the front wheel drive matched with either of the three-speed automatic or the five-speed manual transmission. Two engine choices were also offered, the 2.0L Inline 4 and 3.1L V6. The once famous Pontiac Sunbird is now Pontiac Sunfire but still the fiery spirit of performance and style lives on.
