Astre is the Pontiac version of the Chevrolet Vega, a compact car that lies between the body size of midsize car and subcompact vehicle. Pontiac Astres were equipped with 2.3-liter SOHC engine. This powertrain is a 1971-1977 creation of the General Motors Corporation. And like all other Pontiacs such as the Bonneville and Firebird, Astre was also endowed with great items made to make it look more appealing and perform more satisfying as a car in such class. Aside from its engines and transmissions, its wheels, radiators, electrical systems as well as exterior and interior molding were designed to compliment each other, and of course used more improved technological innovations by those times.
