Plymouth Tc3
A real sporty look dawns on the Plymouth TC3. Ironically, its sporty overall look does not compliment its performance. The
car drives like any economy car would do. Plymouth TC3 came into being in the
year 1979 but not as an independent model but rather a sub-model of Plymouth Horizon.
Back then, the vehicle carried the name Plymouth Horizon TC3 therefore letting
it remain under the shadows of the Plymouth Horizon. Same is true with the Dodge
Omni O24 which had been clearly inspired out of Dodge Omni.
Lucky enough for the Plymouth TC3 as it became an independent model in the year
1980. However, it was only doomed to stay for a few years. In 1982, its name had
been changed into Plymouth Turismo TC3 and for 1983, the nameplate of the TC3
had been dropped thereby calling the vehicle Plymouth Turismo alone.
Deviating from the usual look that Chrysler gave its cars in the seventies, the
Plymouth TC3 was given a sporty look instead of the dull "econobox" image. Its
sporty appearance had been coupled with high performance yet was maintained at
a preciously economy level. Three engine types were available—the 1.6-liter Peugeot
used on the Plymouth Horizon and Dodge Omni, a 2.2-liter overhead cam engine,
and a 1.7-liter engine.
