Also, this Plymouth model takes pride on being the choice of many police forces. It was used by the tough New York Police Department after showing its ability to withstand the abuses and beatings usually received by most police cars.
Released in 1956, the Plymouth Fury was a model and series of automobile produced by Plymouth, a division of Chrysler Corporation. Designed to be a halo model, the Plymouth Fury arrived as an off-white hardtop coupe featuring a gold anodized aluminum trim in 1956 to 1958. Upon introduction, the Plymouth Fury is packed with a 303 V8 engine. Its usual 1950's styling featured a sharply peaked tail fins. It was used in the movies Christine along with Plymouth Belvedere and Savoy. The Sport Fury was released for 1959 model year. It was the halo model created to replace the Plymouth Belvedere as the standard bearer of the Plymouth vehicle line-up. For this model year, the Plymouth Fury was made up of sedans and station wagon body styles as well as hardtop coupe and saloon.
Fury's popularity placed Plymouth third in sales from 1965 to mid-1974. When the division reintroduced the full-sized Fury in 1965, it was offered in four sub-series – the Fury I, Fury II, Furry III and Sport Fury. These Furys were designed to competitively face it competitors bodystyle for bodystyle and car for car. Also, these edition of Plymouth Fury were produced and marketed until model year 1974 and was the sole reason why Plymouth experienced successful sales for almost 10 years.
And because the trend slowly shifted to smaller and more fuel-efficient cars in the mid 1970s, Plymouth division immediately modified its models.
