Do you know that the first Plymouth Barracuda were the Valiant option
package? In 1964, the Plymouth Barracuda was introduced as an A-body
and was sold until 1969. Just then it was replaced in 1970 - 1974 in an
E-body version. The Plymouth Barracuda has an engine of 225 slant 6
with a 180 horsepower, 273 cubic inch V8. The inexpensive and separate
Ford Mustang outsold the Valiant model with the ratio of eight to one.
The Plymouth Barracuda was completely redesigned in 1967. There are
some visible differences between the 1972 and 1973 Barracudas such as
the side marker light positions. The 'Cuda body-side stripe has this
flat bottom edge, and impact-absorbing black rubber bumper guards. But
the rearmost did not diminish much from the lines of the original
thin-line bumpers. Bearing the Barracuda name, Plymouth offered a
variety of styles and designs which is a much better integrated
fastback, a sleek convertible, and an arresting hardtop. Each
sub-models has its own features. The revised Barracudas can be
purchased with a 340 cubic-inch version of the Chrysler small block V-8
which boast a 275 hp, and a 383 cubic-inch big block that offers a
conservative 300 hp.
With
its genuine leather seats, heat and air conditioning, the Barracuda is
fun to drive. With the styles and attractive designs of the Plymouth
Barracuda, after 1970, its sales fell hastily, and model vanished from
the Plymouth line after 1974.
