Oldsmobile Cutlass
Not so many Oldsmobile models have made a name of its own than the Oldsmobile Cutlass. First seen in 1961, the Cutlass rode on GM's new A-body unibody platform and was offered in three trims. The F-85 was the base which came in two- and four-door sedan styles and as a 4-door station wagon with power coming from the new Oldsmobile/Buick Rockette aluminum 215 in³ V8 engine rated at 155 hp and 210 ft.lb of torque.
The S was the mid-level model which was offered in a fastback coupe style. As the premium muscle car, the Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 was named as the top of the line.
The Cutlass continued to evolve up to the early seventies. As the other muscle car models have started to loose its popularity, the Cutlass remained as one of the most formidable brands in the world in terms of sales. And although there were some engine downsizing performed in the Cutlass, the power remained competent both on the lower and higher level of vehicles.
Cutlass has appeared with a number of different vehicles. It was said that it almost became a sub-marque of Oldsmobile. In the early eighties up to the mid-nineties, the Cutlass was offered in the name such as the Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Calias, Cutlass Ciera, and Vista Cruiser.
Until today, the high performance Cutlass remained to be one of the best Oldsmobile ever made throughout its' history which ran for almost four centuries.
