A lot of good things can be said about the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. With a station wagon body, the Custom Cruiser has the power and capability common only to most trucks. It also has the interior space that enables it to carry a lot of passengers and cargos, something that we would usually expect only from minivans or full-size vans. But despite all of these good characteristics, there are still some people who hate the car. Why? Because the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser is simply not meant to be liked by all people.

The Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser was a large, full-size station wagon manufactured and sold by Oldsmobile from 1971 until 1992. The vehicle model was a rear-wheel drive vehicle, and was actually the last rear-wheel drive full-size station wagon manufactured by Oldsmobile when the vehicle was dropped from the vehicle line-up after 1992.

From 1971 to 1992, there were two versions, or generations, of the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser manufactured. The first generation Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser was sold from 1971 until 1976. The car was based on the GM C-body platform and allows up to 9 persons to be seated inside the vehicle. The first generation Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser also featured an electronically-operated tailgate.

The second generation Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser was sold from 1977 until 1992, with a major redesign in 1991. Standing on the GM B-body platform, the second generation Custom Cruiser was a bit smaller than the previous generation, although it can still hold the same amount of passengers and cargos. The electronically-controlled tailgate was replaced by a 2-way tailgate which can be opened like a door or folded down to allow cargo access. The car also came equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, which was upgraded into a 5.7-liter V8 unit for its last year.

American full-size car lovers would surely love the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. And while the car is now a bit outdated, both in style and in parts, it can still perform and look fine especially with high quality Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser parts. The car, however, was not made to appeal to everybody, especially to those who just hate full-size vehicles.
