Reliability and longevity—these two characteristics are what Nissan vehicles are known for. Incidentally, these two characteristics are also shared by almost all vehicles manufactured by other Japanese automobile manufacturers like Honda, Toyota and Mazda. So, what sets Nissan vehicles apart? It's probably their engines. Nissan engines have been recognized as among the best automobile engines in the world. In fact, Nissan is considered as one of the world's leading manufacturers of vehicle engines.
Nissan engines, however, are only as good as the parts they are composed of. This means that the over-all quality of a Nissan engine is reflective of the quality of each and every individual part they are made of. Stating that Nissan engines are among the best engines in the world is simply stating that Nissan engine parts are among the finest engine parts in the world. And that includes those parts that most of us would just ignore, like the Nissan oil pan.
The oil pan is a thin pan, usually made of sheet steel or cast alloy, bolted to the bottom of the engine's crank case. The oil pan serves as a reservoir for the engine oil that is circulated through the various parts of the engine for lubrication and cooling purposes. Because of this simple purpose, many engine oil pans are hollow inside, without any other part or structure aside from its thin metal surface.
Nissan engines, however, are equipped with high-performance Nissan oil pans that feature a structure that is more complicated than other ordinary oil pans. To aid in the performance of the engine, Nissan oil pans feature trap doors and baffles that can control the engine oil in aggressive driving and pool the oil into the oil pump pick up for better circulation. Nissan oil pans are also made of materials that allow the engine oil to cool freely before they are pumped back to the various engine parts, enhancing the cooling property of the engine oil.
