The Nissan Altima was introduced in 1993 as a compact sedan by the Japanese automaker, Nissan. A sedan car is one of the most common configurations of the modern automobile, having a four-door passenger compartment between the lower hood which covers the engine in the front, and the lower trunk at the rear.
Branded by its manufacturers as an “affordable luxury” vehicle, Nissan Altima offers the comfort of a sedan in a price much reasonable unlike its competitors such as Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Although introduced with only a 4-cycle engine, it provided the best engine of the 4-cycle type. The Altima has undergone many developments and innovations, becoming the competent mid-size sedan that it is now. As a matter of fact, it has become the Nissan’s best selling automobile.
The Nissan Altima has a lot of features and options to offer which cannot be found on other vehicles of its class. Since its introduction, it has provided its patrons with a smooth and comfortable ride through its powerful engines. It competes with the Acura TSX/Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Jetta. The Nissan Altimas are rebadged Bluebird SSS, outside of North America and use the aluminum SR20DE or 280 hp (209 kW) SR20DET turbocharged engines.
The latest model of Altima that was first sold in 2002, which comes with either a QR25DE engine – 2.5 L straight-4 DOHC engine with a power of 175 hp or a more powerful VQ35DE engine – 3.5 L V6 DOHC engine with a power of 250 hp has been well received by the mass because of its design, style and above all, power. It became the first mass-market product built on Nissan’s larger sedan platform. To North America, it is unique while it is incomparable in Japan. No one can really ignore the innovations Nissan has made in handling.
