Mercury Colony Park
Mercury Colony Park
There are lots
of automobiles running around the streets nowadays; there are lots
still parading those display centers; and there are still those yet to
roll out of their respective assembly areas. Indeed, automobiles seems
to be almost anywhere; with different designs, sporting different
appeals and levels of performance. But one thing's for sure, we need
those vehicles not just for displays and "show;" we need them as
solutions to our transport problem. Hence, we need them in their best
quality. And that is the demand of most automobile buyers today;
vehicles that will stand the test of time and other road obstructions.
Good thing, automakers know how to please their target markets; Mercury
is among them, with models like the Mercury Colony Park, the Bobcat, the Capri, etc.
Mercury is a marquee under which the Mercury Colony Park was included;
it was founded by Ford Motor Company in 1939 to market semi-luxury
cars. Mercury was named after the Roman God, Mercury and truly, the
early models of Mercury were known to be fast cars. In 1945, Ford
decided to merge Mercury with the Lincoln division, making the
Lincoln-Mercury Division. Later, Edsel division joined the two, making
it the Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln Division in 1958; Edsel was demised in
1960 and the Mercury-Lincoln Division remained since. Basically,
Mercury was created by Ford Motor Company from scratch. It gained its
first major success as a Ford marquee in the 50's when the formula of
stretching and lowering then existing Ford platforms generated good
results specifically from their target markets.
The Mercury Colony Park is among the good things that resulted from
Mercury's innovative automotive discoveries. It was a full-size station
wagon introduced in 1957 and was manufactured and sold until 1991; it
was basically based on Ford's Crown Victoria model. This model includes
features such as power windows, air conditioning and luggage rack. Many
owners and those who have experienced the Colony Park has lots of good
things to say about this wagon. It has a good gas mileage and a
powerful powertrain.
