The Kia Rio is one of the most inexpensive front-drive subcompact sedan available in the United States nowadays. This small subcompact car made by the South Korean company Kia Motors was introduced in late 2000. The Rio was derived from the 1995-1997 Ford Aspire hatchback.
Rios that are sold on the North American markets has only one engine available, a 1.6 L 4-cylinder with a 105 horsepower. The Kia Rio is infused with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.The Kia Rio's standard features includes a rear-window defroster, center console, and full cloth interior trim.
As a value leader in the entry-level segment, the Rio has been an important part of the Kia vehicle lineup. So, year after year, Kia Motors provide its patrons a new and enhanced Kia Rio. For 2002, the Kia Rio wass offered in two trims: a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon. In the United States, they are commonly called Rio Cinco while they are the Rio RX-V in Canada. It includes power steering and a tilt steering wheel.
Eye-catching design and a bigger engine marked the 2003 Rios. During this year, the Kia Rio got a more standard and optional features, chassis modifications, and a revised interior.
Up to this day, Kia Motors is still continuing to enhance and improve the Rio. They'd replace the current generation of Kia Rio by a new one in the fall this year. They will be available as a 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback. In the following years, consumer should expect a hybrid version of Kia Rio.
