The control of vehicular exhaust emissions has no longer been the sole issue heaped on the motorists but has been one major concern of the government as well. Why not? We all breathe one same air. Logically, if anyone will be breathing one poisonous air, then the rest of the humanity will get affected as well.

The roots of the oxygen sensor can be traced back to the 1980s when these devices had traditionally been equipped in the engine system of all cars and light trucks. At first, the name “Lambda Sensor” was used to coin such device. By function, the oxygen sensor keeps an eye on the level of oxygen that is present in the exhaust system. In turn, the onboard computer reflects and interprets the data sent to it by the oxygen sensor so that the driver or vehicle owner will be aware as to how much air and fuel mixture is contained in the system. The oxygen sensor is either situated in the exhaust manifold downpipe that faces the catalytic converter or is mounted in between the catalytic converters and the exhaust manifolds.

Just like any other automobile oxygen sensor, the Kia oxygen sensors create that voltage signal that is very proportional to the quantity of oxygen that is present in the exhaust. Such voltage signal sent by the oxygen sensor is being monitored by the engine management computer that further regulates the air and fuel mixture. When a rich signal is gleaned by the computer, it orders the mixture to become lean and when a lean signal is detected, it commands the mixture to go rich. The pace at which the Kia oxygen sensor responds to the change in oxygen levels promotes excellent fuel control, fuel economy, and less emission.

As logic tells us, it is a must to maintain the perfect condition of your Kia oxygen sensors. Having known the basic function of the Kia oxygen sensor will eventually prompt you to be very keen when it comes to repair and replacement needs. In this case, online shopping stores will be of great help to you. There are numerous online stores that can cater to your needs. You simply have to choose and be wise as to which to trust.
