After providing the consumers with only subcompacts cars and an SUV in 1990s, Kia introduced a large compact four-door, front-wheel drive sedan named Optima. The Kia Optima is sold in the United States since 2001.
Built on the same platform as the Hyundai Sonata, the Optima competes against its competitors like the Accord and Camry. At 106.3 inches, the Optima's wheelbase was nearly similar to the Honda Accord. But overall, the Kia Optima was three inches shorter than the Accord, which is advantage to its consumers.
Though both the Sonata and Optima had the same platform, they still differ when it comes to styling details. But the Kia Optima gives you more than just great looks and a smooth ride. In addition to its equipment level, attractive styling, and nicely-balanced handling, it has also its abundant standard features, which some of its Japanese-brand competitors don't come equipped with.
Under the Optima's hood is the 2.4-liter, 14, 138-horsepower engine that achieves 23-mpg in the city and 3.-mpg on the highway. Its safety features such as dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and available anti-lock brakes would surely give you peace of mind while you're on the road.
The exterior of the Kia Optima is truly eye-catching. The grille, the hood, the automatic headlights and the beautifully designed tail lights is just perfect. It had also a fully independent suspension and outfitted with either 14- or 15-inches tires. With all the Optima's amazing characteristics, for sure, you'll agree that this sedan is really a great value for money.
