As a brand of vehicle that has became the icon of the true four by four, Jeep
is built to be tough-tougher than any other vehicle of its class. This is because
every Jeep is designed to move excellently on terrains which no other vehicles
can go. And with the strength and versatility of the every Jeep, it is equipped
with strong parts including glasses particularly the windshield to withstand the
demands of the off-road condition.
Windshields are attached at the front of the vehicle so that is covers the front
of the driver and the front passenger. Because every Jeep are exposed on different
types of environment it encounters different types of weather and could be subject
to different elements. To protect the passengers particularly from wind, precipitations
and airborne road debris like dust, rocks, and insects, Jeep windshield is installed.
Earlier Jeeps’ windshields were made from an ordinary piece of glass. There were
even windshields which were hinged that allow the passengers to fold them on the
hood or open them up at their wish. Some Jeeps also has the two pieces of glass,
one for the left and another for the right. This type of windshield was used at
a particular CJ in the sixties. These windshields though tough were proven to
be fatal for the passengers in case of accidents thus the windshields were improved.
Modern Jeeps uses laminated windshields which are made from two curved glass
with a rubbery plastic laminate sandwiched between the two. This type of windshield
is tougher than the glass windshield or even those windshield that shatter into
small pieces at impact. Modern windshields are also often tinted to reduce the
heat and to reduce the sun’s glair in the passenger’s compartment.
