Rugged and unrefined—these are the two most common words that used to come out of people's lips when asked to describe Jeep vehicles. Made purposely for the off-road track, Jeep vehicles of the past were roughly styled, without much amenities and conveniences to make rides comfortable. But these descriptions were descriptions from the past. Today, Jeep vehicles are equipped with much of the same features other vehicles are equipped with. And while remaining as authentic and capable off-road vehicles, Jeep vehicles can now provide passengers a comfortable and pleasurable ride. Thanks in part to the many amenities that they are equipped with, and thanks at large for their very capable suspension system.
A vehicle's suspension system has a lot of function, and one of it is to ensure the comfort of every passenger in any kind of ride. But while just about any type of suspensions system would work well on paved streets and highways, not all types of suspension assemblies would work well on the off-road track. Vehicles with sub par suspension systems tend to make the vehicle's ride harsh and bumpy. Good thing, Jeep vehicles are not like this. And to make every Jeep ride extremely pleasurable, the suspension system of Jeep vehicles are equipped only with the best Jeep struts.
A strut, or strut assembly, is a special kind of damper that many modern vehicle suspension systems are equipped with. The whole assembly is often composed of a shock absorber unit, a coil spring, an upper pivot and a lower clamp or control arm. Since it is a dampening structure, its main function is to control the unwanted spring motion created by the suspension's springs, just as the shock absorbers would do. But unlike the shock absorber, the strut also provides structural support for the vehicle's suspension.
To make an ordinarily bumpy and harsh off-road ride a really comfortable and pleasurable one, Jeep vehicles must really be equipped with very capable Jeep struts. So if you're going to replace the original strut assembly of your Jeep, you must find one that can match the performance of the original.
