It’s no secret that Jeep vehicles are originally
made for off-road conditions. it is noted that they are history making
vehicle for many stories have come out concerning their first
appearance. From the very beginning, Jeep vehicles have been the
favorite of the many liberators. In this day and age, they still are
among the most wanted vehicles of the many car patrons because they
have been proven to be very versatile. And since they are often used in
traversing all kinds of terrains, a Jeep crossmember is very important.
If you are not mechanically inclined, most probably, you don’t have an
idea of how it works and how important is this thing? A crossmember is
a sort of a brace or strut that provides structural strength attached
to the sides of a car’s body or car’s frame, it is often in the shape
of an “X”. Bumpy streets can cause pressure and can damage your chassis
and to the other body frame components of your car, therefore you need
a crossmember to resolve this predicament.
There are also transfer case crossmembers, rubber isolated
crossmembers, and rear axle crossmember. A rear axle crossmember is a
tubular frame located at the rear of the body shell which incorporates
the mounting points for the rear axle. While the rubber isolated
crossmembers are connected to the frame through rubber isolators which
absorbs vibrations when driving off-road. The transfer case crossmember
on the other hand is used in protecting the transfer gearbox.
You can also modify or convert your stock crossmember to provide added
ground clearance. You can make the bottom of the crossmember thinner or
you can move the transfer case higher in the frame by simply affixing
it to a crossmember and to the two engine mounts. In you opt to have it
repaired, it is removable to so you don’t have to worry detaching it.
