The Isuzu I-Mark is divided into two generations referred to as first and second generation which existed from 1981until 1984 and from 1985 until 1989 respectively.

During the period of the first generation I-Marks, no significant changes were made but during the period of the second generation, it was updated for with front-wheel drive based on General Motors' P platform which was used in four distinct vehicle lines. I-Marks are being offered either one having a 3-speed automatic or one having a 5-speed manual transmission. Available engines for the second generation I-Marks are the 1.5-liter, I4, 70-horsepower, 82 ft. lb torque, the 1.5-liter I4, turbo, 110 horsepower, 120 lb. ft. torque, and the 1.6-liter, I4, 125 horsepower, 106 lb. ft. torque engines.
