GMC Sprint
There are lots of valuable vehicles in the market today, but the fact that some
enthusiasts still loves vintage or old model vehicles prevails. And why not; old
models are the one sporting classical appeals that never fades and the fact that
they carry enough powerful performance are just few reasons why many still love
them. And isn't it great to drive and own such vehicles especially nowadays that
there are many available techniques and innovations to modify an old vehicle into
a high-performance one with freshened appeal. Among the many auto makers in the
market that have ever produced of vehicles back then that still exist today, GMC
is a prevalent name. Created many vehicles in different platforms and models,
GMC Sprint included, GMC became known for their distinctive quality vehicles.
The GMC Sprint was introduced in the automotive market from the year 1971 and
was produced by GMC until 1977. It was considered as a less popular variation
of Chevrolet's El Camino model. The idea of creating a model such as the Sprint
came out when dealers began to ask for smaller trucks with sporty appearance and
performance during the late 60's; these according to them shall bridge the gap
between GMC's passenger car models and its current line. And truly, upon Sprint's
introduction, a complete line of vehicles can be seen on every GMC dealers; from
bigger models down to the muscle car/truck which is the sporty Sprint.
GMC's Sprint model was offered in two trims, the base model called "standard"
Sprint and the upgrade model called "custom" Sprint. In addition to the Custom
Sprint, the Sprint SP options became available; this model offers different great
features and optional equipments. In the 1973 model, the Sprint received innovations
and changes in its body styles and the SP model offered rally wheels, special
suspension and two stripes along the body sides. In 1976, the GMC Sprint came
in mostly unchanged and still holds features and appeals like those in the 1973
models. In this year also, big block engines were not available and the SP model
became a basic wheel, stripe and suspension package option. Although, the Sprint
offered good features and performance, for some reason GMC had to discontinue
the production and the Sprint was replaced by the GMC Caballero in 1978 making
1977 as the last year for the Sprint.
