What makes a certain ride exciting? For most road daredevils, speed is the
only thing! Racers also have the same thing in mind. But does it mean
that non-sports and race cars are to be set aside out of this scene? I
think not. Have you ever wonder what speedometers are for? Or do they
really serve any function?
Speedometers certainly play a vital role in driving technology as they
are used to gauge the vehicle speed. It is a mechanical or electrical
device designed to inform the driver about his speed rate, thus warning
him to slow down if he already goes beyond the speed limit of the place
or to speed up for the other way around.
Furthermore, the use of speedometer is an important thing to consider
in monitoring the speed rate needed as against the capacity and
performance of the engine and its subsidiary components. These things
are in a way interconnected with each other which means that the whole
system under the hood can be relatively observed with the use of
speedometer. But what is it that actually gives the speedometer its
speed reading? It’s the speed sensor!
Speed sensors like the GMC speed sensor is a device that automatically
sends the information to the computer as to how fast the car is
traveling every time it starts to run. There are two general types of
speed sensors used in vehicles today to which are the wheel speed
sensor which is used to measure the rotational speed of a wheel on the
vehicle, and the engine speed sensor which is used to record the rate
at which the crankshaft is spinning.
