GMC Sonoma Pickup

Sonoma is a vehicle carrying the popular three-letter name of a globally respected company. And as part of the world's largest automaker, General Motors Corporation, GMC Sonoma pickup was built to prove that it has got what it takes to be a GM.

GMC Sonoma is a compact pickup truck that had several versions under the name of GMC's sister company's. It was first introduced as the S-15 of Chevrolet and marketed as GMC Syclone in a body that provides high performance. It also existed as the Hombre of Isuzu. And came out within SUV versions as Chevrolet S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy, or what we also know as the S-Series. The GMC S-Series appeared to be almost identical too Chevy version and can only be easily identified through their featured grilles. It was then offering Insta-Trac four-wheel drives, heavy-duty and off-road suspensions, and hydraulic clutch.

Finally, the name S-Series was dropped in 1991 and GMC Sonoma appeared in the market. In connection with Sonoma's appearance, the full size pickup GMC Sierra was removed from the lineup so to avoid confusion. But then, Sierra came back and run until this very generation. GMC continued to develop the Sonoma until it has created another unit for its lineup, the GMC Sonoma GT. This Sonoma was a limited edition model equipped with 4.3-liter V6 as well as balance shafts. Short lived, Sonoma GT was marketed only for two years. Along with the other special models, Syclone and Typhoon, Sonoma GT was cut in 1994.

Despite the absence of Sonoma's special version, the platform continued to live and thrived over tight competition. It offered long list of features inside-out. Its exterior shows bold and rugged appearance suited for active lifestyle.
