The GMC brand has always been known for its powerful line-up of vehicles, mostly composed of trucks, pickups, vans and SUVs. And as such, it is normal for people to expect much from their GMC. They expect their GMC vehicles to do a lot of things for them, like tow loads, haul passengers, traverse all kinds of tracks, and a lot of others. Because of this, it is only normal for GMC to equip their vehicles with large and powerful engines that will lead them to optimum performance.
But engines alone cannot give GMC vehicles the performance expected of them. No matter how powerful GMC engines are, they would still rely on some other auto parts to make them work properly. The radiator, for example, helps improve the engine's performance by cooling it and allowing it to function under normal operating temperatures. And to aid the radiator in cooling the GMC engine, GMC radiator fans are used.
The radiator fan is the automotive fan that pulls air through the radiator and aid in the cooling of the vehicle's engine. Two types of radiator fans are commonly used on automobiles: a crankshaft-driven radiator fan connected to the engine via a temperature-sensitive viscous coupling, or an electric radiator fan driven by an electric motor. The crankshaft-driven radiator fan is the one commonly used on rear-wheel drive vehicles, where the engine is mounted longitudinally and its output is pointed towards the vehicle's grille. In cases when the output of the engine is pointed to the side, as with the case of front-wheel drive vehicles, an electric radiator fan is used.
Radiator fans actually work in two ways to aid in the cooling process of the engine. First, it pulls air through the radiator, helping the radiator cool the refrigerant that circulates through the engine block. But since radiator fans are usually mounted between the radiator and the engine, radiator fans also cool the engine directly by blowing in cool air to it. That's why GMC radiator fans are essential for the proper functioning of your GMC, especially when maximum GMC engine output is required. Without them, your GMC would not function the way you expected them to.
