A division of GM, the world’s largest automobile manufacturer is GMC, known to be an exclusive producer of trucks. In the efficient operation of the engine system, all engine parts should work perfectly, so as the fuel and lubricants. One of the essential parts is the oil pan. This is a container that’s bolted under the engine, at the bottom of the crankcase which is responsible for collecting the oil that flows down from the sides of the crankcase. Basically it works to keep oil from running onto the ground, allow it to pool at the oil pump pickup and aid in cooling. And since oil is considered to be the lifeblood of the engine that provides lubrication, GMC oil pan quality is needed to be ensured, not only for doing the job efficiently but also to keep GMC competitive in the market.
Oil pans are typically made of thin steel shaped into a deeper section to house the oil pump. It has drain plug at its bottom in order to collect metal fragments from the oil, and needs oil pan gaskets to prevent leakage. Unlike most pans that are open inside, there are high-performing pans that feature trap doors and baffles to control the oil when accelerating on high speeds so to keep it close to the oil pump pickup. That type of oil pan is ideal for race cars and other units that give out ample speed.
