GMC Envoy
In 1998, customers and enthusiasts were in search of a dependable and classy
sport-utility vehicle, General Motors gave something to the public that
would later on bring them the satisfaction they need. Much celebrated in the industry
with great enthusiasm and interest, GMC Envoy, another creation to wow the audience,
was introduced into the public in the field of sport-utility vehicle lineup. The
first generation of GMC Envoy lasted until 2000 with engine of 4.3-liter Vortec
4300 V6. Second generation (2002-present) GMC Envoy vehicles sported engines of
4.2 liter Vortec l6 or 5.3 liter Vortec V8 (for GMC Envoy XL). GMC Envoy body
styles ranged from 4-door wagon, 3-row wagon (XL), and the sliding roof (XUV).
Simultaneously, GMC Envoy received extensive commendation from the
buying public. Second generation of GMC Envoy lineup indeed proved to
be a luckier year for GMC as fruitful production was welcomed heartily
with prestigious award of the coveted title "Sport/Utility of the
Year". This was in the year 2002 when GMC Envoy was manufactured with
an extended-length 7-passenger version. This time, it was called the
GMC Envoy XL featuring engines of LL8 4.2 L, I6; 5300 5.3 liter, V8;
and 5300 5.3 liter, V8. Additional to the lineup in the year 2003 was
the five-passenger GMC Envoy XUV, which was a creation in an attempt to
have a crossbreed of pickup truck and sport-utility vehicle. This
creation is more flexible as it can function as an open-topped pickup
truck sliding forward the retractable rear roof section.
