Earlier known as the Grabowski Motor Company as
manufacturer of the first commercial trucks, General Motors is
currently the truck manufacturing division of the General Motors
Corporation or GMC. The company have manufactured and marketed a
variety of trucks starting from light duty pickup trucks to medium duty
commercial trucks. But initially, the trucks they have manufactured in
1912 bears the “GMC truck” name until 1996 when the vehicles
manufactured by the GMC division were plainly branded as “GMC” alone.
At present, aside form the medium duty trucks that GMC manufactures,
they also market stylish light duty pickup trucks, vans and SUVs. Among
the popular GMC models being marketed today are the Sierra, Savana,
Safari, Envoy and Yukon. And these are all having GMC body panels. Body
panels refer to the exterior “shell” of the vehicle, serving cosmetic
purposes and functional reasons as well. Body panels may carry specific
names like the rear quarter panel, front body panels, and rocker
panels, among others.
Front and rear GMC body panels are sheet metals created into different
shapes and joined together to form the body of the GMC vehicle and

does serve a very significant job. They provide a solid mount for other
