Seldom do we find vehicles today that come from a short-lived division
of a particular corporation or one whose brand name existed only for a
short time. Equally, finding parts for such kinds of vehicles is also
taxing. Such is the case with the Geo vehicles of General Motors.
Unless you own a Geo, you probably won’t know that it is a vehicle
brand and you’ll surely not worry about the scarcity of available Geo
parts.
Geo is a short-lived brand of small vehicles sold by the
General Motors Corporation from 1989 to 1998. The entire line-up of Geo
vehicles was intended to compete with the Japanese import vehicles,
which have dominated the American automobile scene in the late 1980s.
However, the project did not become as successful as General Motors
have expected it to be. After 1998, the Chevrolet division absorbed all
vehicles in the Geo line-up, and the last car that was originally a
Geo, the Prizm, was last sold under the Chevrolet brand name way back
in 2001.
The list of Geo vehicles manufactured from 1989 to 1998
includes the Geo Metro, Geo Spectrum, Geo Tracker, Geo Prizm, and Geo
Storm. By appearance, Geo vehicles are Japanese. This is because all
Geo vehicles are manufactured either by Japanese auto manufacturers or
by General Motors in a joint venture with Japanese import vehicle
manufacturers. The Geo Spectrum and Geo Storm were manufactured
entirely by Isuzu while the rest of the vehicles in the line-up were
manufactured in joint-venture operations with either Suzuki or Toyota.
Rare and short-lived as the Geo vehicles are, Geo vehicle
owners find it hard locating specific parts for their cars. Even more
difficult is finding a Geo part of excellent quality that would perform
at its best. The good thing is that you can now find these hard to find
Geo parts over the Net. Internet search engines can lead you to
websites like this that can provide you not only with a lot of Geo
replacement parts but also high quality and high performance ones.
