Ford Thunderbird
Poised, spirited, excellently built and a certified head-turner.
That's Ford Thunderbird. It has been the third best-selling convertible
and so far, the best-selling two-seater in the market. It is offered as
a two-seater quasi sports car employing a perfect blend of vital sports
car performance and American luxury. Ford Thunderbird has been a clear
representation of clean styling, amazing design, creature comforts and
engine refinement.
The Thunderbird is produced by the Ford Motor Company in the United States way back in 1955 model year. It was created in response to a large postwar demand. Though it offers features like that of a sports car, the Thunderbird was never a full-blown sporting automobile. Instead, it was aptly described by Ford as a personal luxury car, a designation which named a new segment in the automotive market.
True, this car received lots of enhancements almost every model year;
however, navigating the road with a Thunderbird will always gives you a
feeling of nostalgia. It will surely lead you back to the earlier era
when everything is so simple. And though the recent models of
Thunderbird come all-new, some of its standard features like the two
seats, the rear-wheel drive and the convertible top will sometimes make
you feel like you are driving a vintage car.
The latest edition of Thunderbird was carefully designed and engineered by a platform committee. This committee was made up of representatives from every department such as styling, manufacturing, material handling, engineering, marketing, pricing, distribution, purchasing and other discipline necessary in automotive business. This procedure employed by Ford in assembling the Thunderbird is no-nonsense, considering all the complexities involved in launching a new car in the market. The Thunderbird shared its platform with the Lincoln LS. It has enough room to accommodate tall drivers better than other two-seaters. Just like those in the Lincoln, the seats of the Thunderbird are simply amazing and are firm enough to hold you in place. Ford Thunderbird's Turbo Coupe model bagged Motor Trend's Car of the Year Award in 1987 and its Retro Bird two-seater version has took home its third Car of the Year Honor in 2002.
