Renowned for being a practical family transportation machine, Ford Taurus is a true inspiring mid-size sedan produced by Ford Motor Company. Ford Taurus became the best-selling car in the United States automotive market between 1992-1996 model years but its reign stopped in 1997. Unparalleled by other cars, Ford Taurus delivers an amazing level of driving pleasure and it comes with superb drivetrains, attractive exterior, and lots of features and appointments that make its cabin classy and comfortable.
Because of its durability and firm body built, Ford Taurus has been many people’s favorite service in hustling down the road. Launched as a 1986 model way back in December 1985, Ford has successfully sold almost 7 million Tauruses in its 20 years of production. Safety could be one of the reasons why Ford Taurus has been greatly appreciated by Americans. In fact, it has received the Government’s highest 5 Star Frontal Crash Test Rating. It could be because all Tauruses were significantly equipped with a personal safety system. Taurus is continuously gaining a double five-star rating, the highest crash rating award for frontal crash test given by the U.S. NHTSA. Aside from that, Taurus also became the “Best Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in its offset frontal crash test.
Ford Taurus is offered as a four-door sedan or a station wagon body styles. The Ford Taurus sedan has been a benchmark in the midsized sedan segment. In addition to Taurus’ most coveted awards and ratings in safety, it also bagged other rewards and accolades. The Taurus LX model was chosen as Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year for 1986 model year. And for seven times, it has also been included on Car and Driver magazine’s annual Ten Best list, starting in 1986 model year through 1992.
Taurus is a dependable car outfitted with the spaciousness and almost all the features that buyers are looking for. Though it was offered in retail, majority of Taurus’ sales are accounted for the fleet market. But the production of Taurus was discontinued in January 2005 and it will be replaced by the Five Hundred, the Fusion and the Freestyle in 2006 model year.
