Every Ford vehicle is equipped with high quality parts to ensure that they perform properly while running. Among these parts are the suspension, transmission, components of the engine cooling system, and others. These components, however, are only functional as long as the engine is running and the vehicle is moving. Therefore, to fully realize the capabilities of these components, there must be another vehicle part that would set it to start moving. For your Ford, this component is the Ford starter.

The starter, or starter motor, is a small electrical motor that causes the engine's crankshaft to begin spinning, which in turn causes the engine to start with its combustion process and the vehicle to move. The starter motor is energized by the starter solenoid, which in turn gets engaged and connects the starter motor's terminals to the battery as soon the ignition key is turned to its 'start' position. The starter solenoid is also responsible for pushing the starter gear forward to interlock with the engine's flywheel.

The starter motor and the starter solenoid make up the basic components of a vehicle's engine starting system. But since a lot of people find these components as hardly related to the performance of their vehicles, they land on the list of vehicle components that are often ignored. However, reality tells us that the function of the starting system is just too important to ignore. It is for this reason that Ford has equipped their vehicles with high quality starters and starter solenoids. And it is also for this reason that you should take proper care of your Ford starters.

Stock Ford starters and starter solenoids are guaranteed of premium quality. These components, however, were not designed to last forever and neither are they invincible to damages. Eventually, your Ford's starter would wear out and die down. One good indication of this is when you no longer hear its usual cranking sound as you turn the ignition switch on. If such is true with the starter of your Ford, it is high time for you to find a replacement for it. Good thing, high quality and high performance Ford starters are widely available on the online auto parts market.
