The Ford Aspire was a collaboration of three car companies, Kia,
Mazda and Ford. Kia Motors in South Korea made the body of the Ford
Aspire, and Mazda Corporation of Japan made the engine and components.
In the US Ford introduces the Korean-built Aspire as a replacement for
the aging Festiva. 1994 was the year and the Ford Aspire was in the
entry-level category. Providing a great option for those who wanted
value for their car. It was affordable and very versatile.
The Ford Aspire was a hatchback which came in two- and four- door
trims. This little econocar sported a 1.3-liter inline-four engine that
produces 63 horsepower. The Aspire is available with a five-speed
manual or a three-speed automatic transmission. The Aspire offers an
excellent fuel economy of 36 mpg on city and 42 mpg on highway paired
with five-speed manual transmission. Power rack and pinion steering is
only available on four-door hatchback model with automatic
transmission.
The Ford Aspire provided a pleasant blend of comfortable ride, adequate
performance and responsive driving. It's an easy car to drive, with
light, positive clutch action and acceptable acceleration. Its not a
sports car so don’t expect it to drive like one. Its performance is
good enough for a little run about which it was created for. Fuel
economy is still its best feature. Also for a compact car, it is
impressive in terms of cargo space.
The Ford Aspire is basically a transport car, for those expecting more
then this car is not for you. But its engine is more than capable to do
its job. What you can expect from the Ford Aspire is a no-nonsense
comfortable ride that will get you to point A to point B without so
much fuss but with better mileage. You get the appropriate space any
compact sedan provides and maybe a few inches more.
