Dodge Ram 50 Pickup
An old Dodge truck advertisement says: “Dependable, In name and In Fact.”
This was a very striking statement and certainly Dodge would not have used it
with confidence if Dodge vehicles were not tough enough to stand for such claim.
Since the 1920’s Dodge has already built a reputation for durable autos by producing
vehicles with all-steel enclosed cabin. In the 30s, Dodge started to use a bighom
ram to symbolize power, boldness and rugged nature of Dodge vehicles, especially
Dodge trucks.
One of the most powerful and famous vehicles produced by Chrysler Corporation,
the maker of Dodge, is the Dodge Ram 50 pickup. The name Dodge Ram 50 appeared only in 1981; however, this vehicle has been
out since 1979 as the D50 pickup. The Dodge Ram 50 pickup was a smaller version
of the famous full-size pickup, Dodge Ram and the former Dodge D-Series trucks.
And just as the older Ram and the D-series trucks, Dodge Ram 50 pickup showed
impressive capabilities.
Through the years, the Dodge Ram 50 pickup has been offered in various trims
and body sizes. On its last year of production, it was offered in Regular Cab
Short Bed, Power Regular Cab Short Bed, and Regular Cab Long Bed. All these Dodge
Ram 50 pickup models got a standard 2.4 L inline type 4-cylinder engine under
the hood. A 3.0 L 142-hp V6 engine was also available for the last Ram 50 pickup
models. Earlier models were powered by smaller and bigger engines including a
2.0 L and 2.6 L I4 engines and 2.3 L turbo diesel I4 engine. These engines were
matched either with the standard 5-speed manual transmission or the optional 4-speed
manual transmission.
Power Ram 50 pickup was launched in 1982, introducing a new four-wheel drive.
This upgrade brought the Ram 50 pickup to a higher level in terms of performance.
With the Dodge Ram 50 pickup, one got no less than what he wanted out of a pickup,
utility and toughness. It can carry just any amount of cargo load in its bed but
it is not as big as other trucks, so you can conveniently drive it through busy
city roads and narrow streets. In terms of styling, the Dodge Ram 50 pickups may
not be as stylish as modern pickups but they are definitely one of the best ever
produced in the industry.
