Dodge Lancer
Lancer is a term that refers to car models from
Dodge division that has been in circulation before DaimlerChrysler was
created. In the 1950s, Dodge Lancer runs on highways as hardtops ad
convertibles. In the year between 1957 and 1959, Lancer was also used
to refer to the four-door hardtop model that comes as full size series.
In 1960's sales of hardtops and convertibles dropped down which paved
way to the coming of Dodge Matador and Dodge Polara.
In 1961,
Dodge Lancer entered the market as a renewed Plymouth Valiant. It
features rounded tail lights and bigger wheels as opposed to the oval
shaped taillights and smaller grilles of original Plymouth models. The
Lancer for this year has greater engine power because of the available
HyperPack enhancements. The sales however once again did not produce
satisfactory results thus Dodge Lancer name was replaced with Dodge
Dart which was formerly used for small cars. In the 1980, Dodge Lancer
once again joined the competition in the market as a five-door
hatchback which features the stand-out qualities of Chrysler LeBaron
GTS and Chrysler K platform. Later, Lancer was used by Mitsubishi.
