Dodge is one of the many auto manufacturers that provide the market with different vehicle models and designs to suit every market demands. Known in the automotive world as an automaker that creates functional automobiles and trucks, Dodge has created thousands of vehicle units since it started producing automobiles; these includes models such as the Dodge Dakota which was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award in 2000. The Dakota is the entry level of Dodge in the mid-sized pick-up truck category. Introduced in 1987, the Dodge Dakota is similar to Dodge Ram 50 which is a Mitsubishi-sourced model. With a conventional design, the Dodge Dakota has a separate ladder frame and leaf spring/live axle rear end; Dakota is also the only less-than-fullsize pickup that are available with an optional V8 engine. to the present; each model year including new innovations of features and equipments.
The first generation of the Dakota was produced since 1985 up to 1993; including
2-door pickup truck and 2-door convertible body styles while the second generation
was produced since 1997 up to 2004 which includes body styles such as 2-door pickup
truck and 4-door pickup truck. On the other hand, the third generation models
are the present Dakotas which include 2-door pickup truck and 4-door pickup truck
body styles.
