Dodge Coronet
Lucky for us that there are so many vehicles available today for us to ride or
drive; gone are the days of long bivouacs and hikes. We have many choices of performance
and functional vehicles nowadays than there are before; sort of gift the modern
technology can give us, thanks to the auto makers that never fail to provide us
with our ever-changing auto needs like Dodge. A company that never ceased to provide
the market with high-performance trucks and cars, Dodge has been known for the
quality vehicles it has created and introduced in the market. Since Dodge started
their venture in the automotive world, different Dodge models, platforms and trims
were parading the display centers and these includes Dodge Coronet models.
The Dodge Coronet was Dodge’s full-size car model that existed in the market
since the 1950’s. It was discontinued in the mid-1950’s and was reintroduced during
mid-1960s; as it reappeared in Dodge’s model lineups, the Coronet became the mid-size
entry of Dodge in the market. The Coronet shared the same chassis with Dodge’s
Royal and Custom Royal models. The Coronet was at the lower end of Dodge’s vehicle
lineups in 1955 and was powered by either a Chrysler Flathead engine straight-6
or the 270 cu. in. V8 engine; it was then available in tri models such as the
2- or 4-door station wagon, hardtop coupe, 2- or 4-door sedan and the 2-door sedan.
In 1967, after it reappeared in the market, Coronet got redesigned while the 1968
model got larger, coke-body styling. For the 1969 model year, the Coronet was
available with 390 bhp 440 trim model.
The Coronet also became available in R/T trim models that sports some serious
power and additional equipments; Street Hemi models were also available in the
1966 Coronet trim models. The R/T however received not so positive response and
were discontinued after 1970 and in 1971, the Coronet were only available in four
door sedan and station wagon. All these models, however, carried the true elegance
Dodge vehicles has; packed with complete features, equipments and quality vehicle
parts.
