For some, the Dodge 600 is just a plain replacement for the
short-lived Dodge 400. For others, it is just a Dodge version of the
E-platform vehicles that Chrysler introduced in the 1980s, a
counterpart of the more popular Chrysler E-Class and Chrysler New
Yorker. More observant people would consider it as both.
While
all of these are true, the Dodge 600 may be better described without
the word "just". Like all other Dodge vehicle, the Dodge 600 is also a
symbol of elegance and performance. And while it is closely similar to
the Dodge 400 and the other Chrysler E-cars, the Dodge 600 has a lot of
features it can truly call its own, not to mention the multitude of
high quality and high performance Dodge 600 parts it is made of.
The Dodge 600 was introduced to the American automotive scene
in 1983. It was introduced together with corporate siblings Chrysler E
Class and Chrysler New Yorker. Together, the three were considered as
the first vehicles based on the Chrysler E body platform. But while
based on the same body platform, the Dodge 600 displayed a unique
style, incorporating in it an authentic Dodge style.
While the Dodge 600 did eventually replace the Dodge 400, the
two were actually sold side-by-side for one model year, in 1983. It was
only in 1984 that the Dodge 400 was dropped in favor of the larger
Dodge 600, thus ending Dodge's version of the original K-car line.
However, the Dodge 600 reflected much of the style of the Dodge 400.
Particularly, both vehicles borrowed their styles from an earlier Dodge
vehicle, the Dodge Mirada.
From its introduction until its demise in 1988, the Dodge 600
was equipped with a choice of four engine types: the 2.2, 2.2 FI, 2.5
FI, and 2.2 Turbo. It was available in three trim levels, which is
composed of the base trim, the luxurious SE trim and the sporty ES
Sport Sedan trim. It was available in a variety of body styles
including a coupe, convertible and sedan.
The Dodge 600 is indeed old, but still a lot of people find
joy in driving them. And with a lot of web sites that offers a number
of restoration, repair, and performance Dodge 600 parts, driving the
old Dodge 600 would even become more enjoyable and a lot safer. Make
sure though that you get only the best Dodge 600 part whenever you get
one.
